Life Science Program

At Ascend, we feature live animals with our programming where we present off-site, as well as on-site services:

  • LIVE Animal Presentations for Special Events, Public Schools, Private Schools, Homeschool Groups, Daycare Centers, Libraries, Festivals, Scouts, Carnivals, Birthday Parties, Corporate Events, Television, and so much more  (Currently Available Offsite at Your Own Location/Venue and Onsite at Ascend Camp and Retreat Center)
  • LIVE Animal Interaction Station for Special Events, Public Schools, Private Schools, Homeschool Groups, Daycare Centers, Libraries, Family Science Nights, Festivals, Carnivals, Scouts, Corporate Events, STEM Initiatives, Conventions, and so much more (Currently Available Offsite at Your Own Location/Venue and Onsite at Ascend Camp and Retreat Center)

Amazing Adaptations

Our Focus for this program will be on Structural and Behavioral Adaptations, Scientific Terminology, Geography, and Natural History of each animal with an additional emphasis on Literacy/Reading; All participants will have the opportunity to touch/interact with the last animal if they choose to and will receive a GO WILD for Reading Bookmark at the end of the presentation.  Animals featured are kingsnake or bullsnake, tarantula, Madagascan hissing cockroaches, African spurred tortoise, bearded dragon or savannah monitor lizard, Virginia opossum or spectacled caiman, and a large boa constrictor orBurmese python – All Animals Subject to ChangeProgram is correlated to TEKS Elements and correlation sheet can be provided upon request.

Cool, Cold-Blooded Critters

Our Focus for this program will be on Defining What It Means To Be Cold Blooded, Geography, Scientific Terminology, and Natural History of each animal with a special emphasis on Literacy/Reading;  All participants will have the opportunity to touch/interact with the last animal if they choose to and will receive a GO WILD for Reading Bookmark at the end of the presentation.  Animals featured are kingsnake or bullsnake, African spurred tortoise, blue-tongued skink, bearded dragon or savannah monitor lizard, Texas ratsnake, Dumeril’s boa or jungle carpet python, and a large boa constrictor or Burmese python – All Animals Subject to ChangeProgram is correlated to TEKS Elements and correlation sheet can be provided upon request.

Design Your Own Program

Our Focus for this program will be to invite you to help us design a program to fit your specific curriculum needs. We would love to assist you by reinforcing concepts and vocabulary words, as well as assist you with the development of interdisciplinary, follow-up activities. All participants will have the opportunity to touch/interact with the last animal if they choose to and will receive a GO WILD for Reading Bookmark at the end of the presentation.  Animals featured can be specifically selected to fit and enhance the program design and concepts that are being introduced and reinforced.  All Animals are Subject to Availability and Change;  Program can be correlated to TEKS Elements and correlation sheet can be provided upon request.

Interaction Station 

The LIVE Animal Interaction Station is a come-and-go / walk-by booth that consists of 10-20 animals from all over the world (featuring a wide variety of invertebrates and reptiles) displayed from Three Tables via clear viewing boxes and hands-on, face-to-face interactions provided by Ascend Life Science Staff and Volunteers.  Contact us for more details and information All participants will have the opportunity to touch/interact with a wide variety of animals if they choose to and will have access to GO WILD for Reading Bookmarks and Promotional Posters during the event. All Animals are Subject to Availability and Change;  Program can be correlated to TEKS Elements and correlation sheet can be provided upon request.

The Unhuggables

Special Creature Feature – Boas vs. Pythons

Our Focus for this program will be to highlight six to eight boas and pythons from up to five different continents in a Sports Related Theme, as well as emphasize Scientific Terminology and Natural History of each animal with a special emphasis on Literacy/Reading;  All participants will have the opportunity to touch/interact with the last animal if they choose to and will receive a GO WILD for Reading Bookmark at the end of the presentation.  Animals featured are rosy boa, ball python, rainbow boa, spotted python, Dumeril’s boa, jungle carpet python, and large boa constrictor and Burmese python – All Animals Subject to ChangeProgram is correlated to TEKS Elements and correlation sheet can be provided upon request.
